GSHSEB Declared Revised Curriculum For Std 9 To 12 Students, Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) decided to reduce the syllabus for Classes 9 to 12 by 30% for the academic year 2020-21 considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic situation. Besides, GSEB 10th exams 2021 and GSEB 12th exams 2021 will be held on May 21 and for class 9 and 11 exams will be conducted in the month of June next year. The decision was taken keeping in mind the course load on the students.
Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama informed, “Instructions have been given to the board to start work on curriculum reduction. Suggestions from subject matter experts will be sought, followed by a decision on what is left and what to maintain. ”
The board is certain to maintain what is required for the students of the next class. The Chairman of the Board said, “A decision on the revised course will be taken soon with the advice of the State Government. Given the intolerance of students dropping out of the curriculum, the rationalization of the courses has to be done keeping in mind that these are the same students who are going to sit for the national entrance exams in the coming months. Therefore, our effort will be to ensure that students do not lose anything that is important. ”
According to GSHSEB, the education department conducted various meetings regarding the same on July 23, August 20 and September 11. Opinions from educationists were also sought on the matter. Later, on September 29, a meeting held in the presence of Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama following which the decision to rationalise the syllabus was taken.
According to sources, earlier, the students and parents made a representation, demanding that the syllabus be rationalised which eventually led to the discussion and the decision to reduce approximately 30% of the syllabus. This means that the exam papers will not have questions from this 30% portion. The decision was taken so that studies are less stressful for students and they can prepare well for board exams, said, officials.
