How to open an online account?

Opening an online demat account with Upstox is easy, fast and paperless. All you need is your Aadhaar Card and access to the phone number registered on it. If you have these, fill out the demat account opening form. After this, you will need to upload the necessary documents. So, have them handy before you get started. Here is a list of the documents you will need:

  1. Aadhaar Card
  2. PAN Card
  3. Income Proof (depending on the segment you choose) 
  4. Signature (on a blank paper)  
  5. Your photograph.

 Remember: If your Aadhaar card and phone number are not linked, you won’t be able to open an account online. In such a case, you will have to open an account offline.

What documents do I need to upload?

In order to open your demat account, you will require the following documents.

  •         Identity proof: PAN Card
  •         Address Proof: Driving license/ Voter's ID/ Aadhaar Card/ Passport/ Rent Agreement (Registered)/ Latest utility bill (which has the name of the account holder)
  •         Income Proof (not required for Equity and MF): Bank Statement (last 6 months)/ Salary slip (last 3 months)/Latest ITR copy or Form 16
  •         Signature copy: Your signature on a blank sheet of paper

To make your account opening process convenient and concise, Upstox uses IMPS to verify your bank details and thus, does not require you to submit bank account proof. 

Please note: In case if the PAN isn’t KYC compliant, you will need to open your account via In Person Verification (IPV). For this, you will need to upload two videos of 10 seconds each; one with your PAN Card in hand and other with the Address Proof document in hand.

Why has my application been rejected?

Here are the possible reasons for your application being rejected.

  •         Incomplete documents or unclear images of documents
  •         Mismatch of name in PAN/Aadhaar card
  •         Mismatch of signature
  •         Mismatch of bank details
  •         IPV not uploaded properly
